Thanksgiving in Victoria, BC – Documentary family portraits

Capturing those unscripted family moments on Thanksgiving? Cool as it gets. No fancy poses or rehearsed smiles, just genuine laughter, shared stories, and pure love. Sure, sometimes someone will look at the camera, but it’s still way more natural and relaxed. No filters, no pretense, just raw and authentic. It’s about relishing the chaos, the silly jokes and the great feast! 💯📸 #ThanksgivingMemories

Being an observer and capturing family moments as a documentary family photographer is such a privilege. It’s not about flashy gear or extravagant setups; it’s about paying attention to what’s unfolding around you. It’s the subtle gestures, the fleeting expressions, and the candid laughs that often go unnoticed by the casual observer. As a photographer, my job is to be there, present but unobtrusive, catching these little moments that reveal so much about the family in front of my lens. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating this weekend on the unceded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples represented by the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples represented by the Tsartlip, Pauquachin, Tsawout, Tseycum and Malahat Nations, also known as Victoria BC.
