Never panic on the job again!
I’m excited to finally share something I’ve been wanting to bring back for a long time.
On Sunday, May 29, 2026, I’m hosting an in-person wedding photography workshop at the UVic campus in Victoria, BC. It’s hands-on, practical, and focused on real wedding days… not styled shoots, not fluff, not theory for theory’s sake.
If you’ve ever panicked on a wedding day, felt overwhelmed by bad light or bad weather, or wished you felt calmer and more confident behind the camera, this workshop is for you.

Why I’m teaching this workshop
I’ve photographed more than 500 weddings. Big ones, small ones, luxury weddings, backyard weddings. Two people in a cloud forest. Multi-day celebrations with 600 guests. Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Chinese, Vietnamese, Canadian, American, Latin American, European. I’ve worked in extreme heat, humidity, rain, wind, sand, ants, snow, freezing cold, and total chaos.
Very few weddings go exactly as planned. And that’s the point. This workshop isn’t about creating perfect conditions. It’s about knowing what to do when conditions aren’t ideal… and still making strong images.
I’ve been teaching photography since 2009. Thousands of photographers have taken one of my workshops or courses, including many of the top wedding photographers working in BC today. When I teach, I don’t hold back. I don’t keep secrets. I keep things simple, practical, and grounded in real-world experience. You’re getting 20 years of experience distilled into one day.

Who this workshop is for
If you’ve never photographed a wedding before and you’re scared to death, I’ve got you covered. You’ll go from zero to 100 like a Leica on speed. This is the course I wish I had when I was starting out!
If you’ve shot lots of weddings but want to take your work to the next level, you’re guaranteed to learn new skills and techniques that will change the way you shoot forever!
You’ll learn:
- Wedding day itineraries for multiple cultures
- How to handle any light, weather, or situation
- Using flash and video lights when natural light isn’t enough
- Directing people who are not models
- Problem-solving technical mistakes
- Creative in-camera techniques
We’ll also touch briefly on business basics that actually matter on a wedding day… pricing yourself fairly, attracting the right clients, and customer service skills like setting expectations, handling stress, and building trust from first inquiry to gallery delivery (this is not a business workshop, but we’ll cover what’s useful and skip what isn’t).

How the day works
- This is an in-person, hands-on workshop.
- There are short lessons followed by practice. No long lectures. No sitting still for hours. You’ll bring your camera, move around, try things, make mistakes, and learn how to fix them.
- We’ll take a lunch break. Bring your own lunch or grab something from one of the restaurants on the UVic campus.
A few important things
- This is not Photography 101. You must already know how to use your camera to take photos. It’s no problem if you normally shoot in aperture or shutter priority, but you need to be comfortable changing settings.
- We won’t be teaching Photoshop or Lightroom. This workshop is about shooting.
- And yes… we’ll have fun. You’ll meet other photographers, laugh a bit, and make some new best friends
