Not your average wedding photographer...

There are all kinds of photographers out there. Here's why I'm different...

Trust and experience matters

This is one of the most emotional and unpredictable days of your life, and who you choose to photograph it matters. With over 20 years behind the camera, you can trust that every moment, shift, and surprise is handled with care, experience and loving attention.

Documentary specialization

Before I developed a  deep crush on still photography, I received a mater’s degree in journalism with a specialization in documentary reporting. Visual storytelling is the easiest way I know how to communicate.

A blend of analog film & digital

Your day will be photographed on both both analog film and digital, you get the perfect mix of timeless and modern… the nostalgicly dreamy and the beautifully real.

Quite a few photographers may work with film, but it’s a nuanced medium and requires a special expertise. Film was a huge part of my training when I went to photography school, and I know how to make it sing on wedding days.

“Hands down the best wedding photographer on the planet. We were blown away. Some of our friends who were recently married were jealous of our photos. haha.”

“I was a little nervous but as soon as she sent us the sneak peek photos we cried.  The photos looked like they were from a magazine! We couldn’t believe it was actually us!”

Want 100% unscripted OR lots of portraits?

You decide!

Want most of your wedding day covered unscripted but still hope for some great group portraits of your favourite people and some unbelievably creative  editorial or cinematic portraits of the two of you? No problem! Prefer to just enjoy your day with no directing or posing? That’s all good too!

This is your celebration and I customize my approach to fit your vision!

The no awkwardness guarantee!

If you do opt for portraits, I’ll be there to help you relax, laugh, breathe, and actually enjoy your photos. No stiff posing. No awkwardness. No being bossed around.

My promise to you...

01.

Real moments you’ll care about in 20 years

I move quietly and kindly through your wedding day, catching the glances, the hand squeezes, the nerves, the laughter… all those in-between moments you barely notice while they’re happening. It’s honest, emotional documentary coverage that feels like reliving your day instead of just looking at it.

02.

Space for portraits that feel naturaland look incredible

I guide you just enough so you feel comfortable, relaxed, and genuinely yourselves… then I layer in light, movement, and a hint of creative magic. The result? Portraits that feel effortless and look like total rock-star versions of you.

03.

You enjoy your wedding instead of performing for the camera

I read the room, roll with the chaos, and follow the energy. If the party’s wild, I’m in it. If a quiet moment unfolds, I stay back. I’ll keep things calm when needed and fun when you’re ready — so you get beautiful photos and a stress-free experience that lets you be fully present.

Do we sound like a fit?

I’d love to hear more about how you plan to celebrate!

FAQ

Frequently Asked Q's

Choosing a Victoria BC wedding photographer is a big deal! You’re trusting someone to document one of the most emotional, unpredictable, joy-filled days of your life... you deserve to feel confident in who you commission. Ask me anything!

Having an optional second photographer is complimentary with all coverage… and highly recommended! For over ten years, my talented husband Derek partnered with me to photograph weddings. We work in effortless synch… a simple nod or look is all we need to know what the other is thinking. Having a second photographer means  you get layered, cinematic coverage from multiple perspectives. While one of us is with the details or portraits, the other can be with your people, or with each of you as you get ready with your besties… capturing both sides of the story as it unfolds.

Your engagement session is also an optional complimentary gift to you, a relaxed and beautiful way for us to connect before the wedding. It’s a chance to get comfortable in front of my lens and for us to build an easy rhythm together so that on your wedding day everything feels natural. Many couples use their images for guest books, invitations, or framed pieces at home. But the biggest gift is this: by the time the wedding comes, we’ll already feel like old friends and you’ll be so comfortable with me that you’ll forget I’m even there!

There’s no industry standard for pricing creative work, but my rates reflect the level of artistry, storytelling, and service that my couples consistently say was worth every penny.

Part of your investment reflects the demand for my work as one of Canada’s top photographers… widely recognized as one of the best wedding photographers in Victoria BC.

With more than than 15 years of experience photographing celebrations all over the globe and a master’s degree in documentary filmmaking, I also know how to anticipate moments before they happen, work in any weather and light, and guide you through the day in a way that feels relaxed and natural.

Since every couple receives the same level of care, time, and creative vision regardless of the size of their budget or wedding, I do not negotiate on wedding photography pricing or offer discounts.

Not at all. I photograph celebrations of every size and style, from backyard weddings to black-tie events. I care about connection, emotion, and people who value meaningful photography. You don’t need a luxury budget or a designer venue for your story to be worth documenting. If you love my work and want images that feel real and artistic, I’m all in.

While I used to travel to locations all over the world (home bases in both Victoria & Costa Rica), I’ve decided stay closer to home these days, offering photography throughout Vancouver Island (Victoria, Parksville, Courtenay, Campbell River, Tofino) and the lower mainland (Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, West Vancouver, Delta). That said, my arm is made of rubber and if you’re getting married somewhere abroad let me know your plans and I may be tempted to pack my camera bags and join you! :)

Absolutely! In fact, I think every couple should ask to see full galleries from the photographers they are considering so you know what to expect. While my blog does show highlights from wedding days, you don’t get to see all the photos each couple received.  If you tell me your venue or location, I can send you the full collection  delivered to the client from a similar wedding.

Questions to consider when you’re looking at other photographers’ full galleries (including mine):

  1. Do we like the entire story—not just a few standout shots?
    • Are you drawn to most of the images, or just a handful? A great photographer delivers consistently, not just a few “hero” photo.
  2. Does the photographer deliver a full story of your day, or a limited number of images?
    • If it’s limited—how are those images chosen? Would they discard a nice candid photo of someone because it doesn’t meet a quota?
  3. Can we picture ourselves in these photos?
    • Do the people feel relatable? Can you imagine your personalities, family dynamics, or wedding day fitting naturally into this style?
  4. How do the photos make us feel?
    • Calm? Joyful? Emotional? If a gallery gives you a feeling, that’s a strong indicator of what your own photos will evoke.
  5. Is the quality consistent in all lighting situations?
    • Look at getting ready, indoors, harsh sun, low light, reception. Do the images hold up everywhere, or only in ideal conditions?
  6. Are details and context included?
    • Do you see the environment, relationships, and little elements that help tell the full story—or just close-ups?

For my part:

  • I provide an unlimited number of images for every wedding and never hold back a nice photo of your aunt because it’s “not artistic enough.”
  • I also provide both a colour + black and white version of each photo, meaning you get two copies. That way you can pick and choose to print or share those that match your style, rather than wondering “what would this look like in colour?”
  • I also create a guest gallery with any photos I think your family and friends may want. Guests can download or order prints directly through the site. This saves you the time and effort of making duplicates for others.
  • Your downloadable images have no expiry date and I plan to keep your photos there for as long as I’m in business, which I hope is many more years to come (though I always recommend saving backups).

You will always receive a sneak peek slideshow featuring about 30-60 highlight images within a week of the wedding. The rest of your collection, featuring an unlimited number of naturally-polished images, will be ready within four to six weeks of your wedding date.

That’s amazing!! I can’t wait to celebrate with you! Please feel free to reach out with the inquiry form below and I can tell you more. I’m also happy to arrange an in-person, video or phone consultation. Once you’re ready to make it official I then send you a retainer request and an online contract. If you’d like to have a complimentary engagement/couples portrait session we can set a date and time to have a fun meet-up with my camera.

We can also stay in touch throughout your wedding planning… I’m here to help if you need any advice or guidance as you create an itinerary for your celebration. A little closer to the date you’ll receive a questionnaire to help me know more about your itinerary and must-have formal group portraits. I’m also happy to coordinate working with your wedding planner, videographer or other vendors ahead of time to make sure we’re all in synch.

A curated selection of photos from a variety of different kinds of celebrations to show you possibilities and inspiration for your wedding day.  Grab a beverage and enjoy!
