What is required to get married in Belize?

• You must be in Belize at least three days before applying for your marriage license
• You need to have your marriage license applications completed and signed in the presence of a Justice of the Peace who will notarize them
• Completed applications along with the following must be presented to General Registry or Attorney General:
  1. Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date in Belize o If either or both of you have been previously married the following proof of marital status is required:
  2. widowed: (death certificate)
  3. divorced: (copy of final divorce decree)

Having your Wedding at the Maya Ruins in Belize

You'll need special permission (usually you can obtain this through your wedding coordinator in Belize) for your wedding at the Maya Ruins. Another option is to get married near your hotel or resort and then have your "trash the dress" or "post-wedding" (meaning you don't get your dress dirty) wedding photographs taken at the ruins.
